Introduction to Industrial Hygiene for Safety Personnel

Course Description:

This course is a required course for safety officers. It emphasizes the essential elements of Conducting Inspections and Investigations relating to health hazard recognition, and, if necessary, the process of developing a health referral for an Industrial Hygienist. This is a Blended Learning Course. Students must complete a web-based segment of the course prior to attending the resident portion. The web-based segment is approximately 9 seat hours. The course builds upon the fundamentals of Organizing, Documenting and Presenting Information coupled with Applying Technical Knowledge, which began in the earlier standards course (1050). Students participate in laboratories where they will use detector tube pumps, ventilation and noise measurement instrumentation. Course Goal: The student will be able to recognize potential health hazards for possible referral, in accordance with OSHA's occupational health standards and guidelines.
