Introduction to Health Standards for Industrial Hygienists

Course Description:

This is the second course required during the first year for industrial hygiene enforcement personnel. This course focuses on inspection techniques, basic hazard recognition, abatement, and industrial hygiene standards (29 CFR 1910) as applied to general industry inspections. This is a Blended Learning course. Students must complete a web-based segment of the course prior to attending the resident portion. The web-based segment is approximately 9 seat hours. The featured practicum in this course includes analysis of the health hazards in a foundry. The course emphasizes the following core CSHO Job Functions: Conducting Inspections and Investigations; Organizing, Documenting, and Presenting Information; and Applying Technical Knowledge. Course Goal: The Industrial Hygiene student will be able to determine compliance with select OSHA and/or recognized health standards or guidelines.
