Fire Protection and Life Safety
Course Description:
This course focuses on the requirements of 29 CFR 1910, Subparts L Fire Protection and Subpart E Means of Egress and Emergency Action Plans and reviews the NFPA 101 Life Safety Codes 2003 edition. This is a Blended Learning Course. Students must complete a web-based training portion of the course prior to attending the resident portion. The web-based portion may require up to 15 hours seat time. Topics include the chemistry of fire, means of egress, detection and alarm systems, fire brigades, fire prevention plans. Students apply the standards through scenario-based exercises, review the fundamentals of safety and health management systems relating to fire prevention and protection, and participate in a hands-on workshop using a variety of different portable fire extinguishers.
